In this installment of our monthly Showit Tutorials, we’re going to be talking about how blogging works! I’ve been getting more questions lately in my DMs if I could address how blogging works with Showit — because it might not be as obvious or straightforward as some other website-building platforms — so I’ll be shedding some light on exactly how this works.
In this post, I’ll show you the step-by-step on how to get it set up and how to keep updating your blog. Let’s get started!
Surprise! Showit is a WordPress theme (if you’re running a blog)
Before we get into how to set up your blog on Showit, it’s important to know that Showit is actually a WordPress theme! 🤯 I know, when I found out, I was just as shocked as you!
Now, this is really important to cover first because understanding how Showit interacts with WordPress can help you truly understand how to use them together for an amazing blogging experience — both for yourself and for your readers.
So let’s talk about how this helps you. Since Showit is a WordPress theme, that means Showit provides you with front-end development capabilities you likely would never know existed otherwise to enhance your blog. In other words, you have all the amazing features that WordPress has to offer (plugins and other resources with an advanced blog subscription), but without any of the headache or technical skills needed to update your actual site design.
Since Showit does all the heavy lifting when it comes to blog setup, the only thing you have to know how to do is write your blog posts in WordPress — everything else can be directly done in Showit!
This helps your readers because you can easily customize your blog in the ways you like that can provide a seamless and easy reading experience.
How to setup your Showit blog
Setting up your Showit blog will depend on whether you have a current, existing blog or if you’re starting completely from scratch. But no matter your initial starting point, you’ll need either a Starter Blog plan (for those who are starting a new blog) or the Advanced Blog plan (if you have a blog you need migrated over).
*It’s important to note that if you have an existing blog and need it moved to Showit, you will have to sign up for the Advanced Blog plan. Showit does not have the capability to migrate blogs on the starter plan. You can manually move your blogs over as an alternative.
If you already have an existing blog, you’ll need to request a blog migration within your account. Depending on the Showit subscription you have, the team at Showit can help you migrate the texts and images from your existing blog to your Showit blog or help you migrate the theme or any plugins as well.
If you don’t have an existing blog, you can request blog setup from the Showit team. Once it’s all set up, you can choose which design you’d like to publish from the Site Settings of your Showit Site Design or Blog tab.
Customizing your Showit blog
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, first, let’s go over two important terms in Showit: Showit pages and blog templates.
Blog templates are similar to Showit pages because of their features, but as you can guess by the name, it’s used specifically to create WordPress pages that will contain your blog content. Blog templates also allow you to customize how your blog looks overall without needing to create individual blog post designs. (Remember from earlier that this is how Showit and WordPress working together greatly benefit you!)
How to pick a blog template
Blog templates can be found on the left-hand side of your Showit account under Site. You’ll see Blog and Single Post listed. The blog option is for the front page of your blog, also known as your Post List, whereas a single post is the design for just one post.
You can customize your blog or single post by changing the colors, fonts, text size, and more! Showit recommends to start with the aesthetics but to not delete placeholder content because that content has specific characteristics that could mess with the formatting.
If you end up wanting to change your blog template, you can read this article on how to do that.
Writing your blog posts
Once you’ve contacted the Showit team to set up your WordPress blog and you’ve chosen your blog template, you’re ready to start writing in WordPress admin! This is what WordPress admin looks like:
And once you hit that publish button, your blog post will automatically be uploaded to your Showit website.

We could really get into the details about blogging on Showit, but I wanted to give you the foundation knowledge you need to at least set up your blog. Once you have the basics down, you can customize and learn how to optimize your blog in whatever ways works best for you and your audience.
